Give your time and change a life, volunteering, it is one of the most impactful ways to get involved. Whether you’re interested in helping out at our thrift shop, assisting at the kennels, or signing up for puppy school, there’s a place for you in our community. We welcome volunteers of all ages (subject to restrictions) and offer orientation sessions to help you get started. From walking dogs to organising events, every hour you spend with us helps make a positive impact. Volunteers are an indispensable and integral part of our Animal Care Centre Team and help with exercising, training and socialising the dogs and puppies in our care to help ensure their health, happiness and to improve their adoptability.

Join us at our popular Adoption Pop-Up Events held at various locations in the Southern Suburbs every weekend or on our weekly visits to Faircape Retirement and Health Care Centre facilities as part of their amazing Pet Assisted Therapy project.

Leaving a charitable bequest in your Will can have a lasting impact on a charitable organisation and prove to be a significant source of income for that charity.
It truly is the gift that keeps on giving. We ask that you please consider choosing the Animal Welfare Society of South Africa as a beneficiary when preparing your Will. Leaving a bequest to the Animal Welfare Society of South Africa is a simple, yet remarkable gesture.
Charitable bequests are one of our most critical sources of long-term funding, enabling us to plan for the Society’s long-term needs and thereby ensuring its sustainability. Whether this comes in the form of a monetary donation, a percentage of your estate, a property, an asset from your estate or shares, the impact is significant.
A bequest or donation made to a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), like the Animal Welfare Society of South Africa, is exempt from donations tax and/or estate duty. Likewise, assets donated to a PBO will not be subject to capital gains tax. There are many benefits to leaving a bequest, which your estate planner can elaborate on.
